In 1952, Leslie A. Chapin started an accounting firm in Westfield called Chapin & Greene, PC. Known to his friends as Les, he was a tireless watchdog for small businesses in the greater Westfield area. Les also gave very generously of his time and talents to his community, acting as treasurer for the Westfield Athenaeum for more than forty years and serving on many other boards and committees. When he passed away in 1994, his friends remembered Les as a man with an eye on the future, a head for numbers and a giant heart for the community. Chapin & Greene, PC subsequently became known as Chapin & Hukowicz, PC, and in August of 2003 was re-incorporated as Morin & O'Shea, PC. The principals, Mark Morin and Brendan O’Shea, were originally hired by Les Chapin; Mark joined the firm in 1982 and Brendan in 1988. Mark and Brendan are still located on Russell Road, the office building that Les obtained for Chapin and Greene in 1969. Morin & O’Shea continues the tradition of personal service and community involvement started by Les Chapin. The firm’s focus is still assisting small and medium-size businesses, funeral homes, non-profit agencies, and individuals with traditional accounting; review and compilation reporting on Financial Statements; and tax services. Morin & O’Shea has a full complement of professional and support staff to serve their clients’ varied needs. Besides the two partners, the firm employs one accounting associate, two bookkeepers, and two administrative assistants. Most of these employees have been with the firm for ten years or more, providing important continuity to Morin & O’Shea’s clients. And many of the clients themselves have been relying on Morin & O’Shea for more than forty years, citing the firm’s reliability and stability as the main reason they call Mark or Brendan. 1440 Russell Road |
